Philosophies in Youth Development

  • Youth players’ creativity is unlimited, we coaches should act as facilitators, not instructors
  • Decision-making should be incorporated into trainings at an early stage, if not from the start
  • Interference should occur even in the simplest repeating drills
  • All acticities/practices/drills should direct towards one destination only: the game itself
  • Youth coaches should be very careful in designing activities to avoid giving bad habits to players (eg. passing drills with 2 players facing each other will give them the habit of receiving face-to-face with no angles)
